There is a corporate designee deposition on the horizon: what are your expectations for your outside counsel? Undeniably, corporate designee depositions are not the sexiest event during litigation. But, in many cases, it might just be the most vital piece of your defense. Who your outside counsel presents and how they approach preparation of the witness is, without a doubt, pivotal. This week on the Defense Never Rests we are joined by R. Wade Vandiver, who provides his tips to ensure your outside counsel is on track with these depositions. Wade might know a thing or two about this as he not only practiced defending extra-contractual and coverage claims, but spent the bulk of his career at a carrier where he managed outside counsel in their defense of these claims. In fact, he might even be an expert on this topic as he has sprung his experience into his own consulting business. But today we got him for free! During his career he has witnessed the good and the bad..…and wants to share his tips to ensure your counsel is on the right track. If you get an email from your counsel about an upcoming designee deposition, what tips do you have to add? Links to the podcast in the comments.
