Mike was a founding member of Morgan & Akins, PLLC and was instrumental to its development and growth. Mike graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and earned his law degree from the University of Memphis College of Law in 1978. Over the course of his legal career, Mike built a significant and diverse legal practice in Nashville and throughout Tennessee. He spent several years as a partner with a large law firm specializing in civil litigation and insurance defense, and also served as an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at Middle Tennessee State University. Mike was highly regarded as a skilled litigator who took great pride in the excellent care of his clients. He was member of the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar associations and frequently shared his legal expertise as a featured lecturer at numerous seminars on workers’ compensation insurance in the Southeast. In addition, as a long time Nashville resident he developed a unique legal niche in the entertainment industry by providing advice and counsel on real estate transactions to various business managers for their clients.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In his spare time, he enjoyed competitive golf and was a supporter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee and the Boy Scouts of America. His presence in the legal community, as well as the Nashville community and our firm, will be greatly missed.
